Bhusandheshwar: A legendary evidence at the bank of Subarnarekha & Bay of Bengal.

Bhusandheshwar: A legendary evidence at the bank of Subarnarekha & Bay of Bengal.

Welcome friends to my post. As I have told you that my native contains a lot of beautiful & scenic spots in its surrounding. So Bhusandheshwar is one of them. The location itself conveys its spectacular picturesque scenery. You might be pleased to know this place is famous in all over the world for the giant shaped Shivling. Which is one & only giant shaped natural shiv ling in the world. Having a height of 12 feet & radius of 2 feet. So many legends behind the etymology of this mysterious place. Whatever it may be but our intention is to enjoy the beauty of nature. Every corner you will find the magnificence over there. Either you are a nature lover or Orthodox these places are suitable for you.
As this place is having close proximity to my village so a lot of time we have been there. Whenever I was getting time, not losing the chance to visit there not for praying to Lord but for passing few times lonely at the lap of Estuarine (Meeting point of River Suvernarekha & Bay of Bengal), to freshen up mind by cool wind & lot more(?). So many times with friends also I visited there. So there is no particular date for which this travelogue meant for.
Information
The legend tells: Bhusandheswar literally means the lord of land but not such myth exists. Though many myths exist for the appearance of this giant shaped Shivling. One of them is: While Bhim(of Mahabharat Era) carrying the giant shaped Shivling had placed here and went for passing urine. By the force of his urine the big canal created and when he returned back and tried to carry this shivling could not able to move after applying his giant force & finally after failure he let this Shiv ling to be here. Since that day Lord Bhusandheswar adored here. But there is not the reality of such a myth so let myth to be a myth and enjoy the existence.
This temple was built since long time ago. One side is bestowed by crop fields and another side is by Suvernarekha & Bay of Bengal giving a gorgeous picturesque. I could remember when I was a child (1990’s) there was no communication to this temple in rainy season as no bridge could be built due to the giant force of tide. Every time they were trying to make a bridge but getting washed away by the tide. As in rainy season, one side of temple gets submerged and other side river canal.  After a lot of failures, using the modern technique of civil engineering they could successfully build in the 2000’s. So now proper communication is there. Irrespective of any season we can visit there as both side the road is made thanks to the local political leader who proposed to make the road at least they are doing something!!.
When you stand at the temple you can see the Choumukh sea beach at another side of the river which can be reached by local boats. Choumukh is another beautiful virgin sea beach of Odisha. Local boat service available from choumukh to Bhusandheswar.
Now there is bank conservation project going on, so govt. is trying to protect the river bank by placing big rock/gravels. We can seat over the rock and can enjoy the beauty of Suvernarekha as well as the Bay of Bengal with the cool wind. We can enjoy the fishing by local people also by seating here. Though no accommodation available here till date we can switch to Digha/Chandaneswar for accommodation which is the feasible distance from here (21/15 km).
Nearby Places: As told lot of beautiful famous places are around Like Digha Sea beach (21 Kms), Chandaneswar Shrine, Dogra  & Choumukh Sea beach(can be reached by boat service). Beside this you can roam around a lot of beautiful villages, can see the Prawn culture, betel cultivation, paddy crop etc.
